Why is it so important to improve the way you communicate?
It's important because when you tell people what you are doing and why, you are more likely to have their support and encouragement. There is a difficult balance to be found between doing exactly what you want to do and doing what other people tell you is the right thing to do.
You will hear two sorts of reactions to your ideas: there will be objections to your plans and support for them from others. It's important for you to try to understand where the objections and discouragement form some people is coming from, because when you better understand their reasons for objections then you will have the chance to explain your point of view and have their support instead of their objections.
You can re-assure people about the positive way your changes will have on them. That means you need to find a win-win way to proceed to doing something which is not only what you want but also has positive advantages for others while remembering that it is vital to keep your desired outcome in mind.
Whatever you want to do, if it involves changes in the way you are inside yourself, and the way you behave and appear to others, then there will always be some people who support you and others who do not understand and try to stop you. Talk to those who support you and understand what you are attempting to do, because their support is vital.
This is why improving your communications skills is so important. People say that the reason we have two ears and one mouth is that we must listen twice as much as speak. Take that suggestion to heart and learn to listen more intently so that you hear fully not only the actual words spoken but also what isn't being said and the undercurrent of some words which may imply more than their actual meaning.
Be prepared for the journey of change to have its rough patches as well as smooth runs. However the journey will be somewhat smoother when you are able to communicate more effectively with those others who are involved in what you are doing, whether directly or as concerned onlookers from the sidelines perhaps, as members of your family, friends or neighbours. Keep your destination in mind, communicate your intentions effectively and do not give up.
